The prerequisites list "To apply this update, you must have SQL Server 2014 SP3 or any SQL Server 2014 SP3 CU release through SQL Server 2014 SP3 CU4 installed." I'm my case, I downloaded and installed this one, which seems to include the CU4 along with the update.at least as far as i can tell.

This being said there is an equivalent update that goes along with CU4 (4535288). If you look at the SQL Server 2014 builds from and look at the build versions and the release dates, you'll notice that .4 (KB4532095) was released where as CU4 was released so GDR update is in fact newer. SQL Server 2014 SP3 update through windows update, but then when i tried to apply CU4 it wouldn't install and I got the same error message that you listed. I had the same issue, I had applied the SQL Server 2014 SP3 update and the I guess we would be able to install 4535288 (Security update for SQL Server 2014 SP3 CU4: FebruCVE-2020-0618) but this seems to be only the security patch and does nog include the CU4 changes. 0 from? And how do we get to install CU4? Of the SQL Server update that is already installed is GDR. Instance MSSQLSERVER, so the current SQL Server update cannot be applied.
